The Benefits of Fibre

Health specialists and nutritionists agree that the daily consumption of fibre is very important to maintain good health. However, the most recent studies concerning the diets of Canadians demonstrate that a large majority of the population does not consume enough dietary fibre.

Nevertheless, many people believe that it's difficult to reach the recommended allowance. To make your life easier, Oasis decided to add fibre to some of its juices.

The fibre contained in our juices comes from fruit and inulin, a natural source of fibre extracted from the chicory root. Pure, clear and flavourful, inulin has been recognized by Health Canada as a new source of fibre for improving food.

It's important to keep in mind that a healthy diet rich in a variety of vegetables and fruit may help reduce the risk of some types of cancer.

Maintenance of intestinal flora

According to certain studies, inulin has a prebiotic effect; that is, it selectively favours the growth of probiotics, beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract. In essence, inulin is neither digested nor absorbed before reaching the colon; because it stays intact, it nourishes intestinal bacteria.

Fibre requirements

Our daily fibre requirements are approximately 25 g per day. The primary sources of fibre remain legumes and cereals. However, fruits and vegetables also contribute, and for some people, products enriched with inulin allow them reach their fibre requirements more easily.
